The Kala Academy was established by The Government of Goa in 1972 with the objective to promote fine arts, folk art, drama and music in Goa, the kala academy is an apex institute which is bound for development of art. This kala academy also provided with a gallery dedicated to the work of contemporary Goan artists, both amateur and professional.
Imparting training through its various faculties besides organizing festivals, workshops, seminars for budding artists is the distinctive character of the kala academy which sets is apart from other organizations in field of arts.
The kala Academy being an apex institute for arts also works for preservation of local and traditional folk art which is native Goan culture.
