Gallery was established in 1987 with vision of an institution devoted to Indian art along with the idea of a platform to connect artists with art lovers. Currently it functions as two galleries VADEHRA ART GALLERY and VADEHRA CONTEMPORARY GALLERY close to one another.
It is one of the oldest art galleries in India. Renowned artists including MF Hussain, SH Raza ,Tyeb Mehta, and Akbar Padmasree include names associated with the gallery in its initial years. It also conducts events collaborating with other galleries like National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA).
A non-profit organization called the Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art (FICA) is also initiated by the gallery with a reading room and bookstore with full of art books and products. It started publishing in 1996.Ten books and hundreds of exhibition catalogues has been published so far. Book store was opened in Gallery in 2008.
