How about a musical Cruise? Who wouldn’t like one right? Well, River Raga is a sunset cruise
alongside the river Mandovi with carefully curated musical performances. It was Shubha Mudgal the
captain of the ship who curated the show. Hindustani classical, Baithaks and Chamber concerts were
part of the show.
The cruise featured Indrani Mukherjee, who hails from a family of musicians and started learning
music at the age of 3. She is a graduate from the prestigious ICT Academy of Kolkata. She is one of
the voices that is well established in the Hindustani music.
Adrian McNeil, the sarod maestro also performed live. He is an ethno musicologist who is into
Hindustani Music. HE is both a scholar and a musician.
The third one who performed for River Raga was Ramakanth Gaikwad, a young and promising
vocalist in Hindustani music. He is just 26 and is a recipient of many national and international
The curator, Shubha Mudgal in an interview given to radio and music said:” While curating this year
the prime objective was not what showcased las year was. SAF is not just a large fancy art festival. It
is an attempt to make a change to the artistic climate of the country.” Well, if not from innovations
like these, where could difference be actually made?

Shubha Mudgal is trained by some of the finest musicians of the country. She is a performer and a
composer and has won Padma Shri award, the Golden Plaque award for special achievement at the
34 th International film festival held at Chicago.
