Shikhandi is a significant mythological character in Indian mythology. This is an award winning play
which looks at Shikhandi in a different approach. It is trying to visualise transgender in a way
opposed to the mainstream visualisations. The play is actually a comic retelling of the story of
Shikhandi. Shikhandi was born as a female and brought up as a male. She wanted to take revenge an
insult that happened in her previous life as Amba.
Talking to the Hindu, Faezeh said “I didn’t want to make a sad story. I wanted to use humour to bring
alive the point. I have used clichés and stereotypes to highlight the biases of the society.” It is in fact
a message to contemporary society as well. Even now, we judge people based on their physicality,
sexuality. But there are in betweens that are as beautiful as the binaries that the traditional society
