One of the Signature dance performances of Serendipity’17 Shiv Yin is done in collaboration with the
Beijing contemporary dance company. It becomes a must watch for it tries something new- a fusion
of Kathak, Bharat Natyam , Tai Chi and Chinese contemporary dance. This is the first step in the
larger collaboration. It delves into the concept of male and female-Yin and Yan or Shiva and Parvati.
Shiv Yin is also about bridging cultural gaps between two varied cultures by understanding the
commonalities. Seven of the Chinese dancers will represent Yin or the male energy and three Indian
dancers on the other hand would represent yang or the female energy. The performance would time
and again speak about these two through varied performances- solo, group, dual, trio
choreographies. The dance is based on a storyline, with Bickram Gosh composing the music for the
performance. The storyline is a love story that goes through emotions of anger, love , and jealousy.
